Musical Tastes Empty Musical Tastes

Post  Oquix Sun Nov 30, 2008 6:03 pm

This is a simple enough question, but hopefully enough to get something of a discussion going.

What's your favorite genre of music? Any favorite artists in particular?

Queen's very good. I listen to quite a variety, the majority of which is made up of complete unknowns. I listen to a lot of Styx, Coldplay, and Gnarls Barkley. My sig here is one I made about Gnarls Barkley's song "Crazy".

Hey, Weird Al is awesome! Still going strong after all these years. Can't wait for his next album; I hope it's just as good as Straight Out Of Lynwood!

5. i also like Rise agianst (also popular), and... now this really surprised me, i actually some how like some select pieces of R&B Shocked . now, i know what you are thinking... "Has he lost his mind? can he see, or is he blind?" lol, black sabbath ftw Razz... any way, it surprised me ALOT!... but yea, i especially like R&B music by Lisa Miskovsky (if you ever see a commercial for Mirror's Edge, you know that back ground music? Lisa Miskovsky's Still Alive)

ummm... i got a few more too.

Ben Folds, Fountains of Wayne, almost anything from 1964-1985, a little country, some occasional classical, rock, pop, alternative...my mp3 player is a mess.

Probably be easier to list what I don't listen to...hard-core rap and death metal.

Bah

Use Torrents, gets ya more

But I downloaded the entire Discography, every single song sounds exactly the same.

Disturbed, however, and System of a Down are/were always different in each song (Sorta) and almost all of their songs were awesome.

Favorites of mine include:

Disturbed:
I'm Alive
Sons of Plunder
Land of Confusion
Stricken
Down with the Sickness (Unedited WITH his Rant)
The Game
Indestructible
Inside the Fire
Criminal

System of a Down:
Aerials
Chop Suey
Toxicity
Shimmy
Innervision
I-E-A-I-A-I-O
Mr Jack
Tentative
BYOB
Sad Statue
Violent Pornography (Its actually about Advertising Companies and how they influence us without us knowing)
Revenga
Radio Song
Old School Hollywood
Lost in Hollywood
Spiders
Peephole
Boom!
F*ck the System
Science
Metro (from the Dracula Album)

And then there are the misfit songs
Empty Walls by Serj Tankian
And Handlebars by Flobots

"I can ride my bike with no handlebars....no handlebars...no handlebars..."

Don't Hold me up now! I can stand my own ground! I don't need your help now! You wont let me DOWN DOWN DOWN!!

I memorized all the lyrics to all of those songs and more, I can practically sing to every single one of the songs on my Zune, and that would be 500+

warm yourself by the fire son, and the morning will come soon
I'll tell you stories of a better time, in a place that we once knew.
before we packed our bags and left all this behind us in the dust.
we had a place to call home, and a life no one could touch
DONT HOLD ME up now! i can stand my own ground, i dont need you're help now, you wont let me down! down! down! dont hold me up now, i can stand my own ground, i dont need you're help now, you wont let me down! down! down!
We are the angry and the desperate, the hungry and the cold,
we are the ones who kept quiet, and always did what we were told,
but we've been sweating while you slept so calm in the safety of you're home,
we've been pulling out the nails that hold up everything you've known
DONT HOLD ME up now! i can stand my own ground, i dont need you're help now, you wont let me down! down! down! dont hold me up now, i can stand my own ground, i dont need you're help now, you wont let me down! down! down!
so open you're eyes, child, let's be on our way
broken windows and ashes are guiding our way
keep quiet no longer, we'll sing through the day
of the lives that we've lost, and the LIVES WE'VE reclaimed
go!
DONT HOLD ME up now! i can stand my own ground, i dont need you're help now, you wont let me down! down! down! dont hold me up now, i can stand my own ground, i dont need you're help now, you wont let me down! down! down! dont hole me up! (i dont need you're help, i'll stand my ground) Dont hold me up! (dont need you're help) No! No! No! dont hold me up! (dont need you're help, i'll stand my ground)dont hold me up!(dont need you're help) dont! dont! dont! dont! DONT!!!
