You see him in the corner there?
The one they all call a waste of good air?
I know better, I know the truth,
the truth of the love throughout his youth.

He’s a silent watcher, silent lover,
always watching his love from his darkened cover.
Always there, without a doubt,
And always silent, he’ll never shout.

Never shout his true love’s name,
Never approach, for he thinks his love in vain.
Thinks she too perfect, it can never last,
Thinks she’ll reject him, all too fast.

You see that girl in the corner there?
the one with the pale skin and the messy hair?
The one that seems odd to most she is around?
She doesn’t seem strange to he who mutters no sound.

For he is a silent watcher, silent lover,
always watching his love from his darkened cover.
Always there, always watching,
Always there, cupid’s arrow never notching.

He watches her laugh, her talking with his friends,
He watches her cry, scuffing up her glass’s lens.
He watches as she goes, goes from class to class,
He watches her get in his friends’ cars, watches as they pass.

He knows he has lost his chance, he’ll never know the truth
the truth that she was the perfect one, a love not only for his youth.
He knows that they will never be, and for this reason, he’ll be hence;
a silent watcher, silent lover, wishing for a chance
